The<br \/>\ndevices may be equipped with handsets, headsets, or speakerphones<br \/>\nfor providing the acoustic interface to the user. They may operate<br \/>\nin the narrowband (300 to 3400 Hz) transmission mode or the<br \/>\nwideband (100 to 7000 Hz) transmission mode, or they may support<br \/>\noperation in both modes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PURPOSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This particular document serves as the core standard and<br \/>\nprovides a description of the document structure for the series.<br \/>\nSince the various types of acoustic interfaces (handset, headset,<br \/>\nand speakerphone) require somewhat different test methods, there is<br \/>\none document in the series for each type of interface.
