This Standard specifies the following classes of buried polyethylene pipes used for the supply of town gas and liquefied petroleum gas (hereafter, referred to as "pipes").

—Single layer pipes (including the polyethylene pipes with identifying stripe)

—Polyethylene pipes with co-extruded two layers or three layers specified in Annex A The material of each layer to be used shall have that of the same MRS.

—Covered pipes specified in Annex B that are polyethylene pipes covered with peelable thermoplastic material on the outside surface

NOTE 1 Annex C gives guidance on a calculation and design scheme on which the maximum operating pressure of polyethylene pipes specified in this Standard is based.

NOTE 2 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence is as follows.

ISO 4437: 2007 Buried polyethylene (PE) pipes for the supply of gaseous fuels-Metric series-Specifications (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ lEC Guide 21-1.
