Scope

This Standard gives the requirements for an automatic polarimeter used for determining the sucrose content of sugar cane juices, sugars and sugar mill products. The instrument is intended to be used for quality control purposes by persons who may not be technically conversant with the theory and the practical limitations of the instrument.
NOTES:
1 Throughout the specification the sugar polarimeter is referred to as the 'instrument'.
2 Appendix A provides information to be taken into account when preparing service agreements.
