This Standard specifies minimum requirements for balanced twisted-pair telecommunications cabling (channels and permanent links) and components (cable, connectors, connecting hardware, cords, and jumpers) that are used up to and including the telecommunications outlet/connector and between buildings in a campus environment. This Standard also specifies measurement procedures for all transmission parameters.

Is your company involved in testing of the Field Terminatable Plugs?

You may benefit from reviewing the summary of the methods defined in ANSI/TIA standards prior to purchasing them:

The latest standard ANSI/TIA-568.2-D Balanced Twisted-Pair Telecommunications Cabling and Components Standard added the Modular Plug Terminated Link testing under Annex F that contains test procedures for links terminated into a modular plug, which is a popular use case of field terminatable plugs.

The ANSI/TIA-568.2-D contains connecting hardware requirements in section 6.10 which can be used in the laboratory to evaluate performance of a field terminatable plug when mated to a jack. The ANSI/TIA-568.2-D further contains requirements for modular cord test head requirements in section C.7. A modular cord test head is a preferred jack to use to test a field terminatable plug because of its centering. When the connecting hardware test of section 6.10 is performed, the limits of table C.4 can be used to evaluate pair combination 3,6-4,5 NEXT loss.

The ANSI/TIA-568.2-D contains test methods to evaluate test plug NEXT loss under section C.6.5.5. These procedures contain valuable guidance that may be used to evaluate a field terminatable plug. Field terminatable plugs will not generally meet all the requirements of section C.6.5.4.

The ANSI/TIA-568.2-D has cord NEXT and return loss performance requirements in section 6.11 that may also be used to evaluate electrical transmission of field terminatable plugs using a reference cable.
