In this regard, Practice F86 describes recommended locations and methods of marking for metallic implants.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"SectionLevel2\">\n<p class=\"subsec1\">1.2&nbsp;The purpose of this practice is to (<span style=\"font-style:italic;font-weight:normal\">1<\/span>) recommend that orthopaedic implants be permanently marked, and (<span style=\"font-style:italic;font-weight:normal\">2<\/span>) recommend practical amounts of information that should be included in the marking. It is recognized, however, that marking is not practical in some cases (see <span style=\"font-style:normal\">4.1<\/span>).<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"SectionLevel2\">\n<p class=\"caveat\">1.3&nbsp;<i>This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
